NEW BERN, NC RIVERFRONT OPEN SPACE
In addition to streetscape design, Allison Platt & Associates designed much of the riverfront walkway, Union Point Park and a series of other small park spaces throughout the downtown. Union Point Park is located at the confluence of the Trent and Neuse Rivers and provides a panoramic view down the Neuse River toward the Intracoastal Waterway. The seven acre site is the centerpiece of New Bern’s waterfront promenade, and is flanked on one side by a hotel, and by the new Convention Center on the other. Other open spaces include a seating area and setting for sculpture near the Convention Center and another north of the downtown. AP&A also designed the setting for the Blue Angel plane in Lawson Creek Park and visible on the drive into New Bern.
