Danville is a city of about 40,000 on the Dan River near the Virginia border with North Carolina. Allison Platt & Associates was hired with Economists BBP&Associates and Eric Hyne to prepare a plan for the river district, including the Main Street retail area, the Tobacco Warehouse District, and the river. The plan included economic analysis for four catalyst projects in the district, plus open space improvement recommendations to help stimulate investment. $78 million in private investment was realized within 5 years of the completion of the Master Plan, much of it credited to the Master Plan and public planning process. See press release here. AP&A also produced a marketing brochure about this project.
